CUT THE TENSION: - Everyone knows that I am not the biggest fan of the whole thrash thing going around now a days but this band really rips. Spitting Teeth play fast, aggressive, in your face hardcore that teeters on the thin line between thrash and hardcore and will have you moshing from zero to 30 seconds. Starting this seven-inch off is Zorlac Attack which is a cry for the good old days of skateboarding when Pushead boards and Vision Streetwear ruled the scene instead of the ghetto'd out fake gangsta's rolling around on little twigs they call skateboards. Another song that was rather amusing is Million Man Mosh, the name says it all. This song glorifies circle pitting and all the wonderful variations of the mosh from over the years. Other highlights on this record are a Project X cover of Straight Edge Revenge and Trudge Onward To Doom which is a commentary on our newest president George W. Bush and how he is clueless without his daddy's help.
EYE WITNESS (GERMAN ZINE): - So I put the needle on the record and you know what? After just 3 seconds my chin crushed on the floor since SPITTING TEETH are nothing but genius! Do you know the feeling when you're listening to a record and you know after a few seconds that this platter will destroy anything in sight? Whoa, the "Legacy of cruciality e.p." 7" is exactly such a bullet!! SPITTING TEETH are playing megafast, radical thrashcore, they have an amazing singer, they write phantastic songs and besides that they're able to write well thought out lyrics and something like that isn't that common these days! SPITTING TEETH hammer through seven songs of their own plus "Straight edge revenge" from PROJECT X (the original is from their "Straight edge revenge" 7" back from '87) in between 34 seconds and 1:53 minutes, so you know they don't fuck around. Shit, I know that SPITTING TEETH remind me of another band, but I can't think of anyone right now. I really hate something like that, but that's of course not your problem, so just imagine if TEAR IT UP are meeting LIMP WRIST in the studio of DUMBSTRUCK and then they will re-record INFEST's "Slave" 12" again!! I'm not kidding, and I really think that bands like SPITTING TEETH are able to save hardcore!!
MAXIMUMROCKNROLL: - All the ingredients: A song about skate boarding, an 80's cover (Project X), a mosh anthem, homage graphic bites in the logo (The Void crosses), and totally fun hardcore punk. In addition to be being fiercely pro-mosh and unity, SPITTING TEETH is committed to the emo apocalypse. But come on, the lead singer wears glasses. How fuckin' tough can they be? (TH)
PUNK PLANET: - Old school hardcore with some humor laced in. They got the straight edge but are opened minded to everyone united together. Not the most original idea, but Spitting Teeth execute it well and I am amused by the silly lyrics with songs about skateboarding and moshing in the pit.
SCRATCH RECORDS: - Give me this 80’s thrash flashback hardcore anyday over all the tedious chuggery clogging the bins. Great title and logo (Void rule) and a track called “Campaign for Manpurse Destruction” (although I can’t go anywhere w/o my record bag so I guess I’m a big girl). This shit rocks.
SLUG AND LETTUCE: - This is Soooooo good! From the first track "Zorlac Attac!" (about the old school skateboard company) to the Project X cover, this is really an enjoyable 8-songs of Infest-style thrash. Lots of breakdowns, stop and go parts galore. Solid packaging is the icing on the cake. (Dave)
SHORT FAST AND LOUD: - A crucial new thrash unit from seattle...it's about time the puget sound got back in to the HC mix after a miserable decade of rock. This quartet pumps out eight tunes that burst at the seams with youthful energy and high speed fury. No lyric sheet in mine but there's some excellent song titles. My favorite being "Million Man Mosh". Once these guys get their discs out there and do some touring they're going to be the new favorite band of many a bandana clad fastcore fanatic (Chris Dodge)
SUBURBAN VOICE: - Spitting Teeth sent me a demo awhile back under their old name, Shitbastard, and while I wish one of the tracks from that demo "The Only Emoviolence I Support Involves Smashing Your Stupid Face"...This is still a wild, crazy ride. I'm inclined to like any band that has a song called "Million Man Mosh." Tinny-snare syndrome, but some hammering hardcore that mixes early 80s and pissed off sXe youth crew influences, early Youth Of Today and Project X(whose "Straight Edge Revenge" they cover) In Particular. Lyrics kind of straddle the line between satrical and serious, but I'll bet their shows are a blast. Still some room for improvement but on the right (straight of course!) path.
